چکیده

In ''The Myth of Original Intentionality,'' Daniel Dennett appears to want to argue for four claims involving the familiar distinction between original (or underived) and derived intentionality. 1. Humans lack original intentionality. 2. Humans have derived intentionality only. 3. There is no distinction between original and derived intentionality. 4. There is no such thing as original intentionality. We argue that Dennett's discussion fails to secure any of these conclusions for the contents of thoughts. In ''The Myth of Original Intentionality'' (1990), Daniel Dennett appears to want to argue for four claims involving the familiar distinction between original (or underived) and derived intentionality: 1. Humans lack original intentionality. 2. Humans have derived intentionality only. 3. There is no distinction between original and derived intentionality. 4. There is no such thing as original intentionality. Contrary to the billing we have been given about this paper, we think that Dennett's discussion fails to secure any of these conclusions for the contents of thoughts.

Temporal representation and dynamics

Six hypotheses about the relation between the temporal content of perception and the temporality of perceptual processes are identified and discussed. The positions are determined by different stands on three questions: whether the content of perception is an interval or an instant; whether it is a passive reflection or an active construction, and whether or not it is purposefully delayed. The ...

Securing Peer-to-Peer Content Sharing Systems through Detecting Pollution Behaviors

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) content sharing systems have experienced an explosive growth, and now dominate large fractions of both the Internet users and traffic volume. However, due to the self-organization and self-maintenance nature of P2P overlay networks, these systems are vulnerable to the content pollution, where attackers aggressively inject a large quantity of polluted content into the systems....

The intensity of electrophoretic bands containing egg non-vitellogenin derived proteins in relationship with embryo-larvae viability in common dentex (Dentex dentex)  a preliminary evaluation

Despite the reported effects of egg vitellogenin-derived proteins (VtgDP) and amino acids on embryo-larvae viability in common dentex the effects of non-vitellogenin-derived proteins (non-Vtg-DP) has yet to be determined. As an initial study, fertilized eggs (70 batches) were provided by natural spawning of broodfish in captivity. Viability parameters (VP) such as egg floating, hatching, and la...

COVER SHEET Holford , John W . and Caelli , William J and Rhodes , Anthony W . ( 2003 ) The Concept of Self - Defending Objects in the Development of Security Aware

This paper presents a proposed extension to the object oriented paradigm, whereby software objects are not only responsible for the encapsulation of data, but are also aware of the sensitivity of that data. Those software objects which encapsulate sensitive information will actively defend both their sensitive data and their functionality. These self-defending objects use object level role base...
